I don’t know. I’ve never had one from Australia. It would be interesting to try. After a certain point, and one too many over-ripe, extracted wines, I just stopped buying Australian wine. Sure every once in a while I’ll get one here or one there, but it hasn’t been a focus.

Don’t forget southern Rhone (maybe you meant for 100% Mourvedre). Outside France & Spain, I guess there’s some in Portugal, but mostly blended as far as I’m aware. Based on what I know of your palate, I suspect you’re not a fan of the versions from Down Under (blended and varietal)?

Sounds like an interesting wine. The one thing that I can say about California wineries is that they make things that taste different from the Old World as a general rule of thumb…and it would be interesting to taste some Mourvedre from somewhere besides Spain or Bandol. I love the spicy flavors of Mourvedre…
